(9)Movie Review: Kong: Skull Island [CBFC: U/A 2017 ‧ Action/Adventure ‧ 1h 58m]

Directed by Jordan Roberts, this movie is completely filled with action & adventure sessions making it one of the monumental entries in the MonsterVerse franchise. Their breathtaking visuals, power-packed action sequences makes this film take the audiences on an exciting journey to the mysterious - "Kong's Skull Island". This review is about the deep elements utilised in the movie that makes it a wonderful cinematic spectacle worth experiencing especially if you watch it in theatres OR you should have a home theatre at your home.

#Plot of the Story

Set in 1973, the film begins with the end of the Vietnam War and follows a diverse team of scientists, soldiers, and adventurers who are brought together for a secret expedition to an uncharted island in the Pacific. Led by a tracker who's a former British Special Air Service Captain James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston), a photojournalist Mason Weaver (Brie Larson), and Lieutenant Colonel Preston Packard (Samuel L. Jackson), the entire team embarks on a mission that quickly turns out to be a fatal one as they collide with the island's only gigantic guardian, Kong. The plot begins with some strong encounters, amazing visuals of the landscapes, and a very wholesome community of monsters and other rare and very unique creatures questions team's survival chances.

#Performances

The star cast performs strongly so that the anchors of the film amidst its fantastical elements did well throughout the film. Tom Hiddleston as Captain James Conrad with a mixture of unwavering bravery and rugged charm, while Brie Larson as Mason Weaver brings a firm and compassionate edge to her character, adding a deepness to the human story. Samuel Jackson as Lieutenant Colonel Packard turns out to be a vengeful, whose only purpose is to defeat Kong which adds up a complex layer of conflict. John Reilly as Hank Marlow, a WWII pilot stranded on the island for decades( for around 28 years) and provides everyone a much-needed comic relief and gain emotional strength & power.

#Direction & Cinematography

The chief's vision rejuvenates the island, making a vivid encounter for the crowd. The cinematography by "Larry Fong," is out and out terrific. Every frame of the film is visually captivating thanks to stunning wide shots of the lush landscapes of the island, explosive battle scenes, and detailed close-ups of Kong. The utilization of energetic varieties and imaginative camera points improves the film's gutsy tone.

#Special Effects and Sequences of Action

With upcoming and upgrading technology the cutting-edge computer-generated imagery (CGI) brings Kong and the other monster's inhabitants to life. I must say, that the "Skull Island" excels in special effects. Kong is shown in incredible detail and realism, demonstrating his enormous size and strength. His first encounter with the helicopters to the final fight with the Skull Crawlers, the action scenes are thrilling and well-made. Power-packed action is mixed up with the moments of tension and suspense in these scenes, which has been cleverly choreographed to keep the audiences engrossed on their seats.

#Themes & Symbolism

The movie explores a deeper theme and symbolism. The film comments on the human tendency to conquer and control nature, often with destructive consequences. Kong, as the island’s protector, symbolizes the balance of nature that is disrupted by human interference. The Vietnam War presented at the beginning of this film serves as an illustration of human conflict and demonstrates the disastrous nature of obsession and vengeance.

#The Background Score

The film's experience score, made by Henry Jackman, acclaims the gutsy and extraordinary air. The flawless introduction of traditional stone tracks from the 1970s sets the mood and enhances the period setting. The thunders of Kong, the calls of the animals on the island, and the marvelous activity groupings make for an extraordinary soundtrack.

#Conclusion

An outwardly shocking and activity stuffed experience where the Lord Kong legend is renewed for another age.

"Kong: The Skull Island" is a thrilling, entertaining, and visually arresting experience for anyone who enjoys adventure and monster films. The Skull Island" follows through on all fronts. A film that moves you to a different universe, where peril is everywhere, and a monster chimp rules as the lord of his space. You will never forget this cinematic excursion to Skull Island, which is what makes "Kong: The Skull Island" is a must-see for moviegoers of all kinds.
