(2)Movie Review: Gridlocked [CBFC: A • 2015 • Action • 1h 54m]
From start to end, "Gridlocked" is a heart-pounding action film that is energizing and powerful at the same time. The masterful combination of extreme actions and a heartfelt storyline, makes Allan Ungar's film stand out in the genre.
Brody Walker, the movie star played by Cody Hackman, and David Hendrix, a former SWAT leader played by Dominic Purcell, team up to stop a deadly attack on a police training facility. Gridlocked stands apart because of its sharp execution and connection with the character elements, despite the fact that the reason could seem like a common activity arrangement.
Actor Dominic Purcell delivers an outstanding performance as David Hendrix. A tough, stone-hearted ex-cop yet with a man of heart, adds up a layer of depth to the film. The way he conveys his physical proficiency and emotional vulnerability makes the character compelling in the lead role.
Cody Hackman, as the cocky yet seemingly out-of-his-depth actor Brody Walker, gives a perfect offset. Hackman brings up a surprising amount of charm and wit that adds up to his character's growth throughout the movie making it look believable and satisfying.
One of the film's most prominent assets lies in its activity movement. In contrast to the often exaggerated spectacle of contemporary action films, the fight sequences are expertly crafted with a raw, gritty realism. The excellent stunt work and practical effects contribute to the combat scenes' immersive and visceral quality. Director Allan Ungar's experience in stunts is obvious, as he organizes the activity looking for minute detailing and pacing.
The cinematography and editing are likewise praiseworthy. The film's visual effects and appearances are neat, clean and professional. Also, the robust camera work increases the action's extremity. The editing has been done carefully which guarantees that the movie is playing without any hitch. With a pulse-pounding musical background that perfectly praises the high-stakes scenarios presented on the screen. Additionally, the film's sound design and score enhance their impact.
Beyond the action, "Gridlocked" manages to weave in themes of redemption, camaraderie, and the personal cost of duty. The relationship between Hendrix and Walker evolves naturally, with moments of humour, tension, and mutual respect that add depth to their partnership. This character-driven approach elevates the film, making it more than just a series of explosive set pieces.
In conclusion, "Gridlocked" is a thoroughly entertaining action film that excels in both its execution and storytelling. With strong performances, exceptional action choreography, and a heartfelt narrative, it offers a refreshing and engaging experience that will satisfy both action aficionados and casual viewers alike. Allan Ungar has crafted a film that not only delivers adrenaline-pumping thrills but also resonates on an emotional level, making "Gridlocked" a standout entry in the action genre.
